When you think about it, immense wine is grown rather than made. Yalumba is one of only four wineries around the world to have its own cooperage, highlighting our family’s dedication to the craft of wine making: from nursery, to oak, to bottle, to glass. The palate is full, rich and concentrated with a steady core of red berry currants and layers of blackcurrant paste and boysenberry. The epitome of traditional craftsmanship, this worn vine Barossa Shiraz is matured in specially made oak barrels crafted in our very own cooperage. Inside every bottle of Yalumba The Signature there’s a story to tell. The Barossa includes both Barossa Valley and Eden Valley, making it one of the few areas in Australia to have neighboring warm and nippy climate growing conditions. An Used Vine is defined as a vine equal or greater than 35 years of age. The Eden Valley shares its western boundary with the Barossa Valley. The region is of same size to the Barossa Valley and is well obvious for making lofty quality Riesling and Shiraz wines. Cabernet Sauvignon is by far the maximum widely planted variety throughout the region, with more than 60 per cent of Coonawarra vines bearing this favored red grape. Growing up in the region, KG has more than 30 years of experience in the industry. With such experience working in the Barossa with some of the most famous Shiraz and Grenache vineyards, KG has obtained an accepting of the Barossa and its vineyards that can only arrive from occupied in the region for the majority of his wine making life. Peter’s distinguished red wine making experience and skill, combined with his intimate understanding of the premium wine growing regions of Coonawarra and Wrattonbully, acquired through almost 30 years of labor in the Limestone Coast, have made him an invaluable asset to Yalumba. The Yalumba Wine Room was once Yalumba's brandy bond store and captures the spirit and heritage of our winery. Yalumba’s focus on sustainability is all about respecting the natural environment around us. Quite simply, if we’re to focus on excellence in wine making, it absolutely requires excellence in environmental management the two are inseparable. Yalumba runs an impressive environmental management programmed, setting aside hundreds of hectares of land for conservation management. We’ve planted thousands of trees over the past few decades. So much so that we even craft our own barrels. We select the oak, then carefully craft it into barrels to bring even more character to the wines we create right here in the Barossa. The oak chosen adds flavor, aroma and complexity to our wines. From nursery to vine, to oak, to bottle, to shelf.
